Cleland really pushed me out of my comfort zone and encouraged me to contact a new weekly paper in my hometown.
He suggested I call in to introduce myself to the editor and take in a story that I had written. I was shaking. I thought that at any minute the editor would realise I was not a real writer.
But the paper was happy to print this story and many more over the following months.
