I enrolled so that I could learn about what is expected of a proofreader / copyeditor. It is an area I am interested in pursuing a career in, and I felt that it would complement my Masters degree.

The course has given me a very good insight in to the industry. I enjoyed doing the assignments and did well in them, which gives me confidence that I have chosen a career path that is right for me.

I was impressed with the tutorial support as I always had a quick response to any queries. Jennie Harborth was always quick to mark my assignments and she gave a lot of very useful feedback that I could build on in future assignments. It is also comforting knowing that I can still ask for support even after completing the course.

I thought the course content was varied and interesting. Each lesson focuses on a different area of proofreading and editing, which I think provides a good foundation for anyone wanting to find a job in the industry.

I have learned that there is a difference between proofreading and copy-editing, and that there are many different career paths I could take. My technical understanding of the English language has improved along with my analytical skills. I have also learned how to edit copy on Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat, which in this day and age is a very valuable skill. I have been working full-time whilst doing the course and I have realised that setting myself deadlines is an effective way for me to study and complete assignments.
