Jayne Whytock: CMP travel journalism course graduate

Having been in the same job for 31 years, I was made redundant.

Once the shock had worn off I decided that this was the time to try a new career. Having always been interested in travel and having a love of the written word, I took up the blogging course with CMP.

Right from the start I found the lessons interesting and full of tips on how to get work published.

These included how to present work, research the market and, most importantly, how to approach editors.

Within a few weeks, I had my first article accepted and very soon I was being paid for my work.

The support I have received from CMP has not only enabled me to earn money from writing, but has also given me back my confidence.

Whenever I had a problem, I knew that I would get the advice I need, often within hours of asking.

The course has enabled me to build up a working relationship with various editors, and I have managed to set up a number of long-term contracts for my work.

I would not hesitate to recommend the course to anyone.
