I wanted to set up as a freelance proofreader / editor and thought it would be good to have a professional certification. I read some of the positive feedback from graduates of this course before enrolling, and found that I had the same overwhelmingly positive experience.

It took me precisely three months. The administration was very impressive, with everything running smoothly from the initial test to the final assignment.

In terms of issuing lessons and returning assignments, the communication was extremely efficient and rapid. Emails were generally answered within hours, and information sent out by return. In terms of communication skills, I found the staff very courteous, friendly and helpful. At times I felt as though I was the only student on the course, receiving limitless individual attention!

The quality of tutorial support was fantastic. The feedback from my main tutor, Jennie Harborth, was always very detailed, constructive and friendly, and I found her extremely supportive and fun.

The course is well designed, covering all the essentials necessary for different types of proofreading and copy-editing. I was very interested in the sections on web content editing (even though this was not something I had ever thought of doing) and found the lessons on law and professional development extremely useful.

I learned a great deal about all aspects of proofreading and editing, but the most important thing I learned was that I am really going to love my new career! I also learned that, like anything, with practice and determination I will improve in accuracy and speed.

I’m not sure I can answer that at the moment, as my experience of the course was wholly positive and I enjoyed every minute of it. However, if I get stuck on a future job and wish I’d been taught how to get around it, I’ll let you know!
