The course went above and beyond meeting my expectations! I learned so much, and really felt challenged by the assignments and tests. I found that my enthusiasm for this line of work only grew bigger as I completed it, and I became confident in the fact that I had found something I could actually excel in!
I didn’t expect the tutorial support to be so good! Shuna was so helpful and quick to reply to anything I asked. Her marking was thorough and her comments thoughtful and constructive. She helped me feel like I was succeeding and boosted my achievements, whilst always letting me know what I could work on, but never in a way that made me feel doubtful of myself. I don’t think I would have gotten half as much out of the course without this support.
I like the fact the course covered basically everything I should know to get myself up and running, and found it engaging and interesting. The way the course is split into lessons, and the order that these lessons are given to us is great too. It’s definitely done in a way that allows you to gain the essentials, then build upon them. The layout of the content was easy to read and understand, and I never felt overwhelmed by it.
Mainly, I learnt the essential knowledge you need to become a proofreader and editor. But then again so much more than this, because it turns out that there’s a lot to learn in this area of work! I learned how to query and make suggestions in an appropriate way, and learned more about grammar and punctuation that I’d clearly forgotten. I also learned a little bit more about myself.
The course, overall, was really informative and well constructed, with excellent support from tutors. I found it both challenging and fun, and was really enthusiastic and well-engaged with it. I enjoyed it immensely, and found that it both showed me what I was really great at doing, and what things I can work on.
