People finishing our proofreading course sometimes have to settle for working for low rates in order to get established.

Some of our online proofreading course graduates are fortunate enough to earn £20 an hour. But in reality, market rates are often lower.

Many agencies’ rates are extremely poor, because overseas proofreaders have driven fees right down. Some of our students prefer Fiverr and People Per Hour, who pay more. Agencies are a good way to get experience when you’re first starting out. Then you can build from there.

And our proofreading course graduates are able to offer quality, unlike some cheap agency workers.

Finding work takes time, effort and perseverance – and you may need to start by working for nothing, or for low rates, to get yourself known.
