Having a blog is an essential part of our proofreading course

Most proofreading contact happens online these days. And so our online proofreading course stresses that prospective clients will never know about our graduates’ services until you’re ‘out there’ on the internet.
And it’s important to get a blog off on the right foot, as mistakes can be difficult to untangle later.
Here are a few pointers:
- Get your blog checked early on – get an expert to look at your basic page once it’s finished.
- A personal, or business domain name will help – and it’s better to use it from the outset, rather than transfer to one later.
- Only write when you have something to say.
- Break up the copy – use one or two sentence paragraphs, with double spacing in between each para. This will prevent the copy looking ‘slabby’.
- Set the copy across a narrow measure. Long lines of text are hard to read. Remember, people read 30% less efficiently on screen, so they need all the help you can give them!
