We tell people on our home study courses that there’s no point in becoming a great writer if you don’t master accuracy first.

Accuracy is the fundamental tool of a writer’s trade. And the onus is on them to check and double check everything they write.

And you must pay attention to accuracy in your typing, spelling and punctuation. Editors will reject work that contains errors, since they will see it as unreliable.

We tell our students it is really important they address accuracy early in their course, otherwise they will take bad habits into their careers.

They find it helpful to print work out and check it on paper at this stage while they develop good habits.
