Copywriting courses should cover presentation techniques

Effective copywriting courses don’t just teach you how to write. They also show you how to present copy effectively, so that people find it easy to read.

So, if you’re looking for a good online copywriting course, make sure it covers things like how to present lists.

Bullet point lists work well, provided they are not over-used. So, restrict them to two or three per 500 words.

And make sure they don’t contain too many bullets – stick to a maximum of 5 per list.

It’s important they are phrased consistently and follow naturally from the ‘stem’.

The stem is an introduction phrase or sentence that leads into the list. This one is presented correctly:

Are you:

  • Looking for a new car?
  • Interested in cutting fuel bills?
  • Needing a smoother drive in retirement?

Each bullet should read naturally from the stem. You can also see that they all start with a capital letter and have a punctuation mark at the end.

These small details aid readability and make the copy look professional.
