proofreading course start upsMany of our proofreading course learner start their own business when they complete their online course. And it’s encouraging to see many of our copywriting course students doing the same.

It can be hard to know where to start. So here are a few tips that some of our online proofreading course graduates have found helpful:

  • Make sure your online presence is perfect before you launch the business, whether it be your social media or your website.
  • Draw up an action plan, and schedule two or three activities a day. Identify some clear and realistic targets. Keep working through it, every day. After a few months, you will see results, with plenty of discipline and hard work. Add timescales and deadlines to your activities, to ensure they actually get done. Add your action plan to your calendar, and have deadline reminders set for each task.
  • Don’t be fooled by statistics. They don’t mean much unless they are generating income. Some people have plenty of website traffic and social media profile views, but don’t make any money. The ultimate test is how many of those hits / views actually contact you and eventually buy your services. If they don’t, there’s probably something wrong with your social media and online activity.
  • Don’t forget physical presence. It works well, and is important. Some online businesses forget they have customers living right on their doorstep. So go out and find them: go to networking events, business exhibitions, career shows etc. Make sure to always carry your business cards and flyers with you too! You never know when an opportunity will come knocking.
