David Porter: Head Tutor
I am Head Tutor for the College of Media and Publishing and have been a tutor with the college for many years. I specialise in teaching media law.
For more than 20 years I worked as a journalist on weekly newspapers in and around Manchester, latterly as an editor.
Following my time in newspaper, I became a freelance journalist and worked for – among others – HopeNotHate, covering stories around the country.
I also made a foray into teaching and today am a senior lecturer in journalism at Manchester Metropolitan University.
As well as my teaching duties I mark media law papers for the NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) and am currently studying for a PhD.
I also take part in a weekly media law podcast called @bangtorights
