Some self-employed people have more than one website, because they trade in more than one sphere.

This makes sense if the spheres are very different. It would be hard to have a single website that embraced for example, both cleaning services and publishing.

But if the services can be grouped, it is best to have one site with an all-embracing name. For instance, some people use their name as their ‘brand’, and add different services to it.

For instance, one of our proofreading course students also offers writing services, but I told him it makes sense to have one site that covers both, as they are both associated with publishing.

Otherwise, he would end up maintaining, and paying for several sites, which can get unwieldly. And he can easily add other services as the business diversifies.
