How PRs can create effective newsletters

A lot of PRs advise their clients to use newsletters, and this is something we encourage on our PR course

But our online PR course stresses the importance of making the content relevant and focused. Otherwise, you’re just giving busy people another inbox item to delete.

They need to create a strong first impression: smart, stylish and well written.

And make sure your writing style is sharp and precise, and chimes with the intended reader.

Use standard headings in each edition, so your readers get familiar with the layout and can find their way round easier. Simple section headings like these will work:

  • Something to think about
  • Quick task
  • Test yourself

Headings also helps you to focus the content.

Remember data protection laws mean you can only send email newsletters to people you have requested them. And you must include an ‘unsubscribe’ option with every mailshot.
