proofreading course

Our proofreading course graduates soon find they are asked to provide quotations for work after completing the course.

Our online proofreading course explains how to go about it.

Providing a quote means sending the client an email stating your price for the job, and any terms and conditions.

These links will give you an idea of what to charge:

Make sure you check the complexity of the documents before you name your price.

You can charge more if the copy is difficult, or technical. And make it clear that you are just proofreading the documents – ie just correcting errors. Charge more if the client wants you to edit the copy and check the facts.

We also tell our proofreading course students to consider drawing up their own terms and conditions. These cover things like:

  • When and how you get paid.
  • Deadlines.
  • How you will do the work – online? Hard copy?

Experience shows that having an agreement that is clear at the outset can save a lot of difficulties later on.
