Payment optionsSome of our online proofreading course graduates find work in places where they need public transport for work, as parking is either expensive, or almost impossible in some town and city centres.

Although a lot of proofreading work is done online these days, some roles still require our proofreading course students’ physical presence, especially when they get editorial jobs on magazines or design studios and work as part of a team.

And many online course graduates are restricted by the high price of fares. And the cost of season tickets can be prohibitive. They only save you money if you use them for work and other journeys out of work.

One of our proofreading course graduates recently told us: ‘I saw a great job in Manchester recently. I’d ideally want to work there, but my transport costs would be £52 every four weeks. These costs are painful.’ Another student’s season ticket was more than £350 a month.

Some College of Media and Publishing graduates negotiate a later start-time with their bosses, so they qualify for off-peak travel. This enables them to start later and finish later, or take a shorter lunch break. Most bosses I’ve worked with / for are amenable to suggestions like this.

Others do a car share with someone who works there, or nearby. And some people put announcements on Facebook and other social media channels saying they’re looking for someone to share with.
