Sports journalism course student, Adam Addicott, is just back from covering the Madrid tennis Open for Tennis World USA.

He spent six days at the tournament, attending press conferences and even putting questions to top players, including Roger Federer.

Adam had several articles published:

He also had an article retweeted by Svetlana Kuznetsova, the runner-up in the women’s event, after tagging her in his Twitter feed @tennisbanter

Adam has been writing for Tennis World USA for a year, but this was his first international event. He has previously covered the ATP Finals at the O2 Arena.

He said: “There are two press areas at the event: the conference room and the media zone.

“The media zone is used when journalists specifically request to speak to a player if they aren’t scheduled to conduct a press conference after their match.

“I conducted a brief one-to-one interview with Luca Vanni, the world number 100, and David Goffin, the world number 20.

“I also conducted a 10-minute interview with Carla Suarez Navarro, world number 10.”

Adam wrote match reports, including the men’s final, won by Great Britain’s Andy Murray, and took part in press conferences and interviews. He also wrote a couple of editorial pieces.

Adam added: “I loved the entire experience and I hope that one day I could do it as a full-time job.”
He is heading to London next month to cover the Aegon Championships at the Queen’s Club.
